Microdiscectomy
A back and neck pain-causing condition, a herniated disc puts pressure on the spinal nerve. SpineAustin’s surgeons perform discectomys to treat a herniated disc only when conservative treatments, such as physical therapy, have not sufficiently improved the pain. A discectomy removes the damaged portion of the disc to relieve the pain, and a microdiscectomy is minimally invasive version of this surgery. As performed at SpineAustin, a microdiscectomy uses a smaller incision, can typically be done as an outpatient procedure and requires a shorter recovery time.
