Eduardo R. Elizondo, M.D.
Board Certified Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation
Board Certified Electrodiagnostic Medicine

Dr. Elizondo is board certified in physical medicine and rehabilitation (PM&R) as well as electrodiagnostic medicine. Prior to joining SpineAustin, Dr. Elizondo has acted as Co-Director at Austin Pain Therapy, a multidisciplinary behavioral pain management center. He has also been a consulting physician for Austin's Back-to-Golf Performance Center, a facility for golf-specific rehabilitation and performance enhancement.

Away from the office, Dr. Elizondo enjoys playing with his two children, golfing, and he maintains a black belt in Shotokan karate. His family is originally from Northern Mexico, and he speaks fluent Spanish.

Education and Training

Dr. Elizondo received his medical degree at the University of Texas Health Science Center in San Antonio, Texas, and completed residency training in PM&R at Louisiana State University Medical Center in New Orleans, Louisiana. He was Co-Chief Resident and went on to attain a teaching position with the training program as a clinical instructor.

Dr. Elizondo heads the Electrodiagnostic Medicine Department at SpineAustin.

Professional Involvement

Dr. Elizondo contributed a chapter on track and field injuries to a published work and has also contributed to a journal article on spinal cord injury. He is a member of the American College of Sports Medicine and a fellow of the Physiatric Association of Spine, Sports, and Occupational Rehabilitation as well as several nationally affiliated professional associations.

Currently, Dr. Elizondo heads the Electrodiagnostic Medicine Department for SpineAustin. He also has special interests in fitness training after rehabilitation from injuries, as well as reconstructive injection techniques (Prolotherapy). He has been involved in the production of life care planning after catastrophic injuries, such as spinal cord and brain injuries.
